Pat Pine Darnell was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, and raised in Union County where this story takes place. She now lives in Hot Springs with her husband, Dan, and three little Dachshunds.

Pat is a classically trained concert pianist, church organist, and choir director. She performed in opera for several years and has taught piano, organ, and voice for most of her life. While living overseas during the 1960s she was half of a two-piano concert team.

She recently began the study of jazz vibraphone and writes hymn transcriptions for piano. She enjoys archiving her family genealogy through scrapbooking. Her hobbies include sewing, gardening, and cake decorating.

BOOM! is Pat's second book. Additionally, many children know her as "Grannie" Pat through her delightful and much loved series of children's stories. 

Pat has enjoyed researching the exciting history of Union County's oil discoveries in the 1920s and recording her family history with it. Her parents met in Smackover during those years, courted and married, and her father got his start in the oil business there.
